Why Meet in the YMCA?
While we admire the beauty of cathedrals and the latest technologies, we remember that Jesus went to others, rather than waiting for them to come to him. We want to do the same, helping those we meet take their next step with God. " Since 1885, the YMCA has affirmed this purpose statement: "The Young Men's Christian Associations seek to unite those young men who, regarding Jesus Christ as their God and Savior, according to the Holy Scriptures, desire to be his disciples in their faith and in their life and to associate their efforts for the extension of His Kingdom amongst young men.
While many YMCAs have drifted from that, God is doing a new thing in various places around the world. The greater Indianapolis YMCA association is blessed with big-hearted Christian leaders at the highest levels, who are opening doors for the local church 7 days a week. " Where schools charge exorbitant fees for churches to meet Sunday mornings but then stay away the rest of the week, this YMCA welcomes yChurch's ministry throughout the week. We offer classes like Financial Peace University here. We volunteer here. Some yChurch members work p/t here. Pastor Ken serves as the first volunteer chaplain in the 160- year history of the Indianapolis YMCA. More chaplains and churches are being added each year. "
yChurch brings to the table an unshakable confidence that Jesus Christ is the ultimate source of hope for anyone who comes to him. We believe God's power is greater than the biggest challenge. We believe Christ's forgiveness runs deeper than the worst sin. We believe God's love reaches higher than any shame that would block you from him. We're here to equip you to help someone else take their next step with God!
